STL-AMANDI FOUNDATION GHANA AND UPSA WRAP UP SIX-MONTH GOAL PROGRAMME CELEBRATING STUDENT GROWTH, MENTORSHIP, AND COMMUNITY COMMITMENT
The just-ended Generation of Academic Leaders (GOAL) Project session, held in collaboration with the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), marked six months of impactful learning, mentorship, and student development for 25 selected pupils from Dzorwulu Primary School.
The programme was designed to support academic growth while exposing students to mentorship, guidance, and structured learning support beyond the classroom. Throughout the six-month period, students participated in regular academic assessments and aptitude tests aimed at tracking progress, identifying learning gaps, and strengthening their confidence in core subjects. To support this process, educational materials including test sheets, stationery, learning aids, and other academic resources were provided to ensure every student had access to the tools needed for effective learning.
An important part of the programme’s success was the dedication of volunteers who consistently gave their time and effort to mentor, teach, and guide the students through each phase of the session. Their commitment helped create an encouraging learning environment where students could grow academically and personally.
A major driving force behind the success of the programme was the leadership and coordination efforts of the Head of SAF Ghana, Yamit Efrat Eckhous, whose involvement extended beyond administration into the day-to-day planning and execution of the initiative. From securing volunteer partnerships and coordinating mentor onboarding sessions to developing student progress structures, organising extra tuition support, and ensuring the provision of learning materials and academic resources, considerable effort was invested to maintain consistency and quality throughout the six-month period. Her commitment, alongside the support of volunteers and partners, helped create a structured and supportive environment that allowed participating students to fully benefit from the programme.
The session officially came to a close with an End of Year GOAL Project celebration hosted at UPSA. The event brought together students, volunteers, and university representatives to reflect on the achievements and impact of the programme. In attendance were the Dean, Madam Philomena, the Head of Industry, and the Assistant to the Dean, who shared remarks commending the spirit of volunteerism, mentorship, and community service demonstrated throughout the initiative.
The ceremony also served as an opportunity to celebrate the progress made by the students, appreciate the contributions of volunteers, and strengthen the partnership between SAF Ghana and UPSA in supporting educational development. The session created meaningful experiences, valuable lessons, and strong connections that will help shape future editions of the GOAL Project and continue contributing to the academic and personal growth of young students.
